On October 9 (Thursday), a group of international students from The University of Hong Kong (HKU) organised a vibrant Cultural Carnival on campus. The event showcased a variety of cultural performances and booths, highlighting HKU’s dynamic and international campus environment while promoting integration among students from diverse backgrounds. Distinguished guests in attendance included Professor Bennett Yim, Director of Undergraduate Admissions and International Student Exchange at HKU; Mr. Laurence Tang, Director of Campus Life at the Centre of Development and Resources for Students; and representatives from various consulates-general in Hong Kong.
HKU is recognised as one of the most international universities worldwide, with students representing 97 countries and regions. The diverse community continues to attract students from across the globe. For the 2025/26 academic year, HKU received a record-breaking number of over 25,000 non-local undergraduate applications—an increase of nearly 25% compared to the previous year. For this academic year, HKU admitted over 1,600 non-local students*, believed to be the largest intake in Hong Kong.
HKU remains committed to enhancing its teaching quality and learning environment, while also increasing support for students from diverse cultural backgrounds.
