The University of Hong Kong (HKU) and Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings will co-host "The Nobel Heroes Forum: Shaping Science and Future" on 12 January 2026. This prestigious event will bring together seven Nobel laureates on HKU campus for insightful discussions on how fundamental research shapes the future of science, technology, health, and the global economy.
The forum will feature two in-depth dialogue sessions, moderated respectively by HKU President and Vice-Chancellor Professor Xiang Zhang and Provost and Deputy Vice-Chancellor Professor Richard Wong. The sessions will explore the topics ‘Building the Future: From Molecules to Materials’ and ‘Decoding Complexity: Regulating Systems from the Cell to the Global Economy.’"
The forum will convene an extraordinary assembly of Nobel laureates, including:
- Hartmut Michel, Nobel Prize in Chemistry 1988
- Robert C. Merton, Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences 1997
- Louis J. Ignarro, Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine 1998
- Tim Hunt, Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine 2001
- Kurt Wüthrich, Nobel Prize in Chemistry 2002
- Konstantin Novoselov, Nobel Prize in Physics 2010
- Ferenc Krausz, Nobel Prize in Physics 2023 and HKU Chair Professor of Laser Physics
