As we enter 2026 and against the backdrop of a shifting market environment and complex geopolitical factors, Hong Kong faces challenges around economic stability and job security, as well as new opportunities coming from across various economic sectors.
Led by Professor Richard Wong, Provost and Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the University of Hong Kong (HKU), Professor Hongbin Cai, Dean and Chair of Economics, and Professor Heiwai Tang, Associate Vice-President, HKU; Associate Dean, HKU Business School, the HKU’s Faculty of Business and Economics will hold a press conference on Wednesday, 14 January 2026, to launch the Hong Kong Economic Policy Green Paper 2026 (the "Green Paper"). The annual publication gathers insights from the Faculty’s renowned business scholars and experts, and addresses economic and business challenges Hong Kong currently faces, with policy proposals that also offer how to make the most of current opportunities across various development areas.
