The School of Innovation at The University of Hong Kong (HKU) will host an inaugural celebration on 9 May 2026 (Saturday) at Rayson Huang Theatre, HKU. The event will bring together University leaders, industry representatives and student innovators to celebrate the launch of the School and explore the future of innovation and technology talent development in Hong Kong and beyond.
The programme will feature an opening address by Professor Xiang Zhang, President and Vice-Chancellor of HKU, congratulatory remarks by Ms Lillian Cheong, Under Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry of the HKSAR (via video recording), and remarks by Mr Terry Wong, CEO of Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP), and Professor James Tang, Secretary-General of the University Grants Committee (UGC), followed by a presentation on the vision and mission of the School by Professor Hayden So, Director of the School of Innovation.
The celebration will continue with a launch ceremony and two thematic panel discussions. The first panel, “Nurturing Innovation & Technology Talents for the Future,” will bring together speakers from academia and the innovation ecosystem, while the second panel, "Conversation with Future Innovators," will feature dialogue with I-School students on their aspirations and learning journeys. The event will conclude with a project showcase and networking reception at the Rayson Huang Theatre Foyer.
