HKU sports scholar recipient (2020-21 intake) and undergraduate student at the HKU Business School, Ms. Yeung Tsz Chai, Natalie won the Women’s Individual Champion in Hong Kong Archery Open held on 18 Jun 2022. She also broke three Hong Kong records (Outdoor Compound Women Individual 50M Elimination, Outdoor Compound Junior Women Individual 50M Qualification, and Outdoor Compound Junior Women Individual 50M Elimination) in the 2022 Hyundai Archery World Cup organised by World Archery World in France, held from 21 to 26 June 2022.
“I have to thank my coaches and teammates for their support and guidance. It is hard to resume strength training and take the examination right before the competition. The Centre for Sports and Exercise (CSE) staff offered me strength & conditioning and periodization training to improve my weakness, which strengthened my endurance level throughout the entire competition. The training has boosted my confidence to stay focused under pressure and strive for excellence,” said Natalie Yeung.
“It is rewarding to hear from Natalie that she had fully utilized our support from CSE to strengthen her physical fitness and mental toughness for her competition. It’s also great that she continued her archery and physical training, even during the examination period. That shows great dedication. Congratulations to her on becoming the Hong Kong record holder. We are very proud of her dedication and efforts,” said Dr. Michael Tse, Director of the Centre for Sports and Exercise (CSE).
HKU student-athletes are showing their prowess in the classroom, as well as their resilience, strength, and courage to achieve on the field of play.
