The University of Hong Kong (HKU) held an opening ceremony today (15 September) to launch the HKU Career Fair 2025 (Fair) - Fall-semester Edition, which runs from 15 to 19 September at Loke Yew Hall. This inaugural event marks the expansion of the Career Fair into a semiannual event, addressing the growing demand from both employers and students for more frequent and impactful engagement opportunities.
The opening ceremony was officiated by Mrs Ingrid Yeung, Secretary for the Civil Service; Professor Chen Lin, Vice-President and Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Business) ; and Professor Kelvin Yeung, Dean of Student Affairs of HKU. Their presence underscored the importance of cross-sector collaboration in cultivating future-ready talent.
The Fair brings together around 30 HKSAR government departments and 130 leading industry partners, collectively offering over 10,000 job opportunities. By extending recruitment efforts beyond traditional hiring periods, the Fair provides students with multiple touchpoints throughout the academic year to connect with potential employers across a wide range of sectors.
This year’s Fair introduces a series of new initiatives, including dedicated preparation sessions to help students make the most of their Career Fair experience; concurrent industry talks and a government roadshow; the Beyond Internship Forum, a student-led platform for sharing peer-to-peer career insights; and the Civil Service Preparation Training Series. In conjunction with the Fair, HKU also announced the launch of the HKU Employer Club - a unique platform that brings together a community of committed employer partners who share a long-term vision to support and nurture HKU talent.
These dual milestones signify HKU’s ongoing commitment to empowering students with diverse, global, and career-ready competencies. Aligned with the “Study in Hong Kong” initiative, HKU remains committed to supporting the aspirations of all local and non-local students by fostering strong industry partnerships and encouraging meaningful contributions to Hong Kong’s future workforce.
